The transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in education

Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has appeared as an impactful technology with important implications for education. The present paper reviews the concept, definitions, growing use, need, opportunities, challenges, and educational implications of AI in the teaching-learning process. The review highlights that AI supports individualized learning, intelligent tutoring, learning analytics, assessment, and educational accessibility, thereby enhancing the quality and effectiveness of education. At the same time, challenges related to data privacy, ethical concerns, digital divide, and academic integrity require considerate attention. The paper emphasizes the need for responsible and ethical implementation of AI to maximize its benefits while minimizing potential risks. It is concluded that AI has the potential to improve educational quality, accessibility, and learning outcomes when integrated thoughtfully into educational systems.
