Abstract
Apart from numerous advantages digitalization comes with potential
downsides too. Digitalization has given us an entire world at a click.
Knowledge has really scattered in the sky, in the true sense of the word. With
the advent of digital information, the recording, storage, and dissemination of
information have become practically free. We have tailored learning
experiences. It has fostered more inclusiveness and efficient learning
environment as per the needs of the learners. It has dramatically increased the
speed and breadth of knowledge turnover, democratizing access to information
and empowering individuals with educational resources regardless of their
geographic location. Digitalization has enabled the availability of various
educational opportunities and the acquisition of numerous skills cheaply and easily.
It is challenging as well as overwhelming to manage the vast amount of data and
derive meaningful insights. Too much dependency can hamper or reduce our
critical thinking and ultimately creativity. Technology has become an
addiction, noting serious negative outcomes such as attention difficulties,
poor decision-making, information overload, internet addiction, and
deteriorating sleep habits. The constant connectivity has led to burnout and
reduced faceto-face interactions which are crucial for deep human to human
relationships, socialization and mental well being. Careful consideration,
proactive measures and ongoing dialogue is essential to address the challenges
of digitalization while mitigating the potential downsides.
