The effect of self-esteem on subjective well-being of SMK students in Tanjung Morawa

Abstract
This study seeks to investigate the relationship between self-esteem and subjective well-being among vocational school students, contributing to a deeper understanding of the factors influencing their well-being. Employing a quantitative research approach, this study involves collecting data from 641 students across grades X, XI, and XII at SMK Harapan Bangsa Tanjung Morawa. The sample is selected using a stratified random sampling technique to ensure representation from various grade levels. The findings of this study highlight a significant positive correlation between self-esteem and subjective well-being among vocational school students. The obtained p-value X1) of 0.001 p < 0.05) indicates the statistical significance of this relationship. The calculated t-value t count = 3.458) surpasses the critical t-table value t table = 1.657), emphasizing the considerable impact of self-esteem on students' subjective well-being. The insights from this study hold practical implications for educators, counselors, and policymakers. Recognizing the pivotal role of self-esteem in shaping students' subjective well-being, interventions aimed at enhancing self-esteem could contribute to fostering a more positive and nurturing educational environment. This research contributes novel insights by specifically exploring the connection between self-esteem and subjective well-being within the context of vocational school students. The findings offer a fresh perspective on strategies to promote students' well-being by addressing self-esteem-related factors.
